Main Audition, September 17
The main audition will be held at The Dance Complex, 536 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, from 11:00 a.m - 6 p.m. September 17.
Everyone auditioning for The Slutcracker must attend a General Auditon held September 17 at the Dance Complex. You will be led through a warm-up, a series of brief exercises, and then taught a jazz/funk/hip hop dance combination, which you will perform in groups for the director. In addition to, and perhaps as important, we will be looking for performers with presence. With style. With personality. The Slutcracker calls for a bit more sass than the average holiday ballet. Bring it on!
*Because of the historically high volume of registrants, the General Audition will be held in two segments at 11:00 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Those who wish to audition a variety talent must prepare a solo act to perform, no more than 2 minutes in length. Please bring music on a MP3 player or CD. The specific talents we seek: Belly Dance, Flamenco, Hoop, Pole (while pole dancers must attend a General Audition, please note we accept video pole work, as we will not have a pole at the auditions).
If you are not auditioning any of the aforementioned variety talents, you DO NOT need to audition a solo piece.
Anyone who wishes to audition for the following roles MUST be present for the Ballet audition:
Clara (Female Lead)
Fritz (Male Lead)
Slutcracker (Female or Male Lead)
Bacchanalia (Male and Female)
Russian (Male and Female)
Sugar Dish Fairy (Female)
The ballet audition will run as a standard class, with a barre warm-up and center exercises. Dancers en pointe will be asked to wear their shoes for the center exercises, but are certainly welcome to warm-up in them at the barre as well.
